Question

9. It is not obstruction if an errant throw pulls the first baseplayer into the path of the batter-runner, and impedes her progress. true or false

True IF the ball gets there before the runner is impeded. Otherwise false.

History, according to the NFHS SB Rules Committee when they adopted the revised obstruction rule deleting "about to receive."

You can still have "train wrecks" in ASA. As far as I can tell, only NFHS removed that
possibility. I totally disagree with NFHS's ruling, because when everything does
arrive at once, I find it hard to call OBS (fielder did not have the ball) or INTF
(because runner hit fielder). However, it is THEIR ruling, so I apply it.
