I'm sure this has been asked 100's of times, although I can not find anything about it.
What,if any, are the major differences between AFA and ASA? Thanks, ksdad |
ksdad,
Not really a whole lot, but some noteable differences. If batter keeps the bat over the plate and does not withdraw on a bunt attempt, the pitch regardless of where it is, will be called a strike. Batter must withdraw bat. We don't worry about jewerly, use same rules as NCAA. Must be considered dangerous in the umpires judgement. Up until this year, we did not call IP's. (Don't know if there is a change to that now or not. (Will know this weekend. Doing the Texas AFA State tournament.) AFA Changed to the "No ball + blocking base + impeding progress of runner is OBS, No longer about to receive the ball. Runner Interference, contact is necessary. Of course the runner may not at any time, unnecessarily wave her arms or verbally distract the fielder. Hope this helps. |
