R1 on 3B R2 on 1B Ground ball hit to a middle infielder...this is one that could go either way...try for the double play, or come home to cut down the run. PU working alone...where should he be on this play? If the defense tries to turn the double play, the play at 1B on the B-R is going to be a bang-bang play, and you'd want to be nearer that call than 70' away on the 3B line. But how do you get there without interfering with a possible throw home? Thanks, Charlie

Circling to the left, take your key from the initial handling of the ball. F6 or F4 will go toward 2B, R2 or Home. If they come home you are in good position; if they play away, be moving toward the play to get your best look, careful to stay outside of any possible throwing line, particularly the line from 1st to Home if the defense misses R2 or BR. While all that is going on, of course, *safe* R2 is headed for 3B. ![]() ...Ain't no moss growing under our shoes. mick |
