Funny Play

I was working an 18U girls fastpitch finals this weekend and the following play occured. Runner on 2nd base with two outs. Batter hits a gound ball to the shortstop who charges the ball. The runner coming from 2nd base realizes she is on a collision course with the shortstop and attempts to jump over the shortstop. Well, she only makes it about 1/2 way and is basically sitting on the shortstops shoulders like she was riding there.(The shortstop was bent over while fielding the ball). Well, they crash to the ground with the runner still in the saddle. I was the BU and I was trying very hard not to laugh out loud. I gave that up when I realized no one was hurt and both players were laughing as well. It turns out the girls are friends and high school teammates but play for different travel teams. I finally did remember to call interference. You shoulda seen this......
