ASA rules...Bases loaded and time has expired meaning this is the last inning. Tie ballgame and 1 out.Home team batting
The batter hit the ball to the 1Bman who has to dive to his right to make the play. R1 has to hold up to make sure the ball doesn't hit him thus killing his normal run to 2B. The 1Bman goes and STEPS ON 1B then throws the ball to 2B to get R1 out. The SS knows he has to tag R1 to get the out. While the ball is in the air, R3 crosses home plate. R1 is thrown out at second but has to be tagged so I counted the run since the inning did not end w/ a force out. The visitor's "coach" was upset but when I told him what happened he then turned his rage to his 1Bman who did not throw the ball home in the first place. Was I correct in this ruling? I took my wife's car to the game and my rule book was in my truck ,which is in the shop,so I don't have access to it right now. |
You got it right. Force was removed by 1B on second out, so winning run scores.

Hey I actually knew the right answer on this one!!! There might be hope for me after all.... Good call Blue!!
|
We don't hear "Good Call, Blue" very often. You deserve one on this.
GOOD CALL BLUE! You nailed it. |
Good call!
Is there not a situation which wont rile up a men's SP team? These guys arguee/whine about everything. |
Hey BuggBob,
Ever notice the lower the level, the more they whine? The higher the level, they "express concern"? What I mean to say is, do you ever notice the change in the voice and attitude as the level goes up? |
VERY nice call...

This reminds me of a sitch we mauled over a few weeks ago. Good call blue. But I'm waiting for someone to come along and confuse us by saying something like "The run doesn't count since the batter-runner didn't reach 1st."
