Well, I showed up for my league games last night (2 14U, good teams), and was surprised to find myself without a partner. Apparently one was scheduled, but failed to show up. The game was going fine when my partner shows up almost an hour into the hour and fifteen minute game. He's wearing a black windbreaker (no uniform) and runs onto the field between innings. He procedes to turn around and start talking to an outfielder as the pitcher gets ready to pitch. First pitch is hit - a line drive - and procedes to go straight into my partners butt. The catcher just sit down behind home and starts laughing so hard she has tears streaming down her face. My partner grabbed his butt and hobbled off the field without ever getting to make a call. Just goes to show you they have a point when they say to always keep your eyes on the ball!

Too funny! A little instant karma is always nice.

Question shouldn't be whether he got paid for the game, but if he got paid to entertain. LOL! I can picture the whole situation in my mind, right down to the catcher on the ground laughing.

That almost sounds like a staged event at a celebrity game. LOLOLOL Since it hit him to the rear, I hope she hit it hard enough that it really hurt.

Doc: Gee, I gotta find a softball and your head at the same time?????

If it were my field, the softball wouldn't have been an issue. There wouldn't have been any room, since his head was already there and it would have been followed by my foot.

There's a certain ump here who just got hit in the rear a few weeks ago... who also frequents this board. I wonder if I can bait him ... er, I mean... I wonder if he'll tell his story here. :D
