Who here is going to be calling a National ASA Tournament this year?

Fastpitch, Slowpitch, Modified, Industrial.....

Thanks,

scottk_61 Wed Apr 27, 2005 10:22am

I have one, not sure which yet.
My UIC told me to be ready to go.
Will find out which one later.
I do all 3 forms, fast modified and slow pitch

Steve M Wed Apr 27, 2005 10:23am

Whoever is, it will not be anyone from my district. Our commissioner does not think anyone wants to do a national.

Andy Wed Apr 27, 2005 11:09am

Darrell (azbigdawg) has called in a few slowpitch nationals in the last few years...I haven't heard if he is going to one this year.

He is also one of the Deputy UICs for Phoenix...he would know how many umpires we are sending to nationals this year.

JEL Wed Apr 27, 2005 11:45am

The wife and I will travel far, far off to do 16B.

Hope we can survive the 20 mile roundtrip!

Duke Wed Apr 27, 2005 12:38pm

I will be calling the 18U A in Columbus, Georgia in August.

tzme415 Wed Apr 27, 2005 12:45pm

Someday I hope to! :)

16U B Fast Pitch East is listed as LaGrange MS in the book, that is a misprint. The REAL LaGrange is in Georgia! (sorry ZZ Top). This one is gonna be on our home complex, I'm sure it will be fun. I hope the local media plays it up a lot, they did for the Dixie Baseball World Series last year, but seem to be a bit lax on softball.

Who is coming to Columbus for the 18A? That is a NICE complex. I worked the GHSA state there last year. Umpires are well taken care of. (even had do-nuts! ask Kinard!)

Scott,

There's a house for sale right across the street! I'll even help you move in!!!

azbigdawg Wed Apr 27, 2005 08:04pm

Steve M..It must suck to have a commisioner like that. On the SP side in phx...we almost have more national spots than umpires qualified to do them...On the FP side...you have to cut someones throat to get there. Hopefully I wont have to (yes...HAVE TO) do a SP national this year.... it would be 6 years in a row...

Haven't heard who the UIC will be - actually hadn't given that any thought yet. I'm still just trying to get through the HS/College season.

whiskers_ump Wed Apr 27, 2005 08:41pm

Only doing ASA State. Will be doing 18U AFA Nationals and the USFA World
Series. [I know Mike, but that is what they call it.] :D

Steve M Wed Apr 27, 2005 09:39pm

Darrell,
One guy in this district has done a national in the past 15 years and that was because he already had the slot from another district in Pa when he moved here. Yeah, it sucks. It makes it difficult to feel much in the way of loyalty to ASA, but that's still there for some reason. It's really frustrating.

I just signed the contract. Nothing is ever for sure until the contract is signed . . . if even then.

Moi

16As fer me. Our JO commish is going as well, since the 16A national next year is in the city with "the bluest skies you've ever seen." Actually it will be in Tukwila, south side of Seattle, not far from the airport, not far from the mall, and there are four wonderful places right down the road that allow you to lose your $19 a game all at once...but always with a smile.

goldcoastump Mon May 02, 2005 10:12am

I won't be going this year Scott. I decided to take a cruise this summer.
