No, thats the last thing we need to do but, page 230 under INT states 3 things must happen... #2 has me scratching my head, always an out. Am I overlooking something?

Can you describe an INT where you wouldn't call an out?

Yes, Spectator interference, When a spectator reaches into the field of play and touches a live ball that is unable to be caught on the fly by a defensive player. We have a dead ball, no one is out, and we award the runners the bases we felt they would have reached had there not been interference. Also umpire interference when a runner is not thrown out when stealing, we signal delayed dead ball and if the runner is thrown out even with the interference it is a moot point. If they are not thrown out we just put them back to where they were. Here we don't have an immediate dead ball and we don't have an out. These are unusual interference calls but they do happen. Maybe the manual should state that three things will usually happen, instead of must always happen.

He is referring to the Umpire's Manual section dealing with Interference, not the rule book per se.

Check the POE, it is more precise.
