Well, let's rethink that.

If you have decided NOT to call a hit batter if the ball hits only a loose shirt that was supposed to be tucked in, then why would you call dead ball? It is either a ball or a strike, depending on location, but it should still be live.

What I decided (postulated) was to judge no attempt to avoid, not to pretend she was not hit.

My point was that I might be convinced her shirt (and thus she) was in the strike zone even if I might not have thought so otherwise. That loose shirt might have obscurred my vision and made me see strike zone where it might not really have been!
