You're PU, and this kid comes to bat.

Your next move is...?

Tell this kid to wear that helmet properly. Then tell ODB to wear a proper helmet!

Skahtboi Wed Mar 30, 2005 01:44pm

Actually, from the way that is sitting on her forehead, it looks more like she needs to get a helmet that actually fits her noggin'.

As for the ODB, I have to agree with JEL.

Yeah, that may be, but a lot of the "little 'uns" push them up that way complaining they can't see.

Oh yeah, I would assume this had already been checked for the NOCSAE before the game! (missed the one on the OBD)

go buy one that fits

There'd darned well better be one that fits in their dugout or the other team's dugout, or somebody better go buy one.

And that ODB better find one with a facemask BEFORE she comes out of the dugout...

The wearing it properly reminder was what I was going for.

The pic was actually from last year (or year before, even), so the ODB was legal.

But even without the mask requirement, the batter should have been asked to wear the safety equipment properly.

hi-jack

In the event that PU is uncomfortable with fit, what do you do if there isnt proper equipment available. Forfiet?

mcrowder Wed Mar 30, 2005 02:53pm

Ask the other team if they can let them use their helmets (they may, they may not). If that doesn't work, suspend play, let the league decide if it's a forfeit or just a "play later". If a tourney, and they don't have proper equipment, they can't play - and it IS a forfeit.

Also, [these are young players] tell the ODB to pay attention - wouldn't want a foul ball to come back and get you not looking.

The remedy here is to suspend play and instruct the player to wear the equipment properly, or if ill-fitting to the extent that it cannot be worn properly, to instruct the player to return to the dugout and get a helmet that fits.

Remember (discussion about forfeit) - this is only an issue if the player cannot (or will not) wear the helmet properly AND there is no sub available for her AND they are already playing shorthanded.

This is not an ejection - it is merely a "you can't enter the game until your helmet is approved and is worn properly."

Tom, Laughing MAO, maybe her hair was in a beehive design.

I agree, she should have been sent back for a proper fitting
helmet.
