Last night I replaced my base shoes with a new pair of Dr Scholls Matrix. Great buy.

100% black; the "gel" support system, and an agressive tread that should work well in grass/dirt. Very light - my size 13's only weigh 14 oz. Under $27 at Wal-Mart.

I can buy two pair for the price of one pair of "official" base shoes sold at Honigs, etc. Anyone needing new shoes should take a trip to Wal-Marts

I did a few days ago as well.. EXACT same shoe.

I wore them to a batting cage to break em in and they came apart. So I'm having my wife exchange them and I'll give em another shot.

Their look and grip is awesome for the the price, so I'm going to give them a second chance.

Edit: Came apart = sole and shoe by big toe on right foot is seperated due to repeated batting.

Been using those for 2 years now. May need a new pair this year. They shine up very nice with the KIWI liquid polish. When they get real muddy, a garden hose and a scrub brush cleans them up, then re-polish. I always spray a shot of FeBreeze in 'em after a game.

I tried them a couple of times, but couldn't get a pair to last an entire Texas softball season. (In other words, a year.) I'll stick with the New Balance x-trainers that I get at about $45.00 a pair. The ones I am using now are in their third season.
