Different rules
Over the last few discussions I have noticed rule interpretations different from those I use ISF. Do most of you guys use ASA etc and is ISF rules played in the states . I am assuming most forum contributors are from the USA |

I call games under three different sets of rules: NFHS (schools) ASA AFA In the area, there are also games played by these rules: NCAA (colleges) USSSA Elsewhere in the USA, teams will play under rules by: Little League Pony Dixie NSA NFSA Babe Ruth and (shudder) USFA (sorry, Glen) I've probably even missed a few.

![]() Debeau, let the CREATORS of this game play under so much different specific rules. All we little disciples will apply ISF rules. Would be too complicate for us... ;o) Seriously: I think only in the States you can find all this kind of differences. I wonder if you just WATCH a game you can discover those diff. (?) And despite all I'm quite sure SOFTBALL IS SOFTBALL all over the world (but someone is playn' it much more better than others... of course). A.

There are some more folkes here working ISF rules regularly. I am from Germany and Dutch Alex, well guess where he is from.
But I feel the ASA discussions help me a lot since there is far more interpretation and it is good starting point to re-read ISF rules, but keep the differences in mind! And yes, to a certain extend you can see the differences while watching a game. Raoul |

Raoul,
How true your words are! Read ASA at the forum, re-read it in ISF/ESF-books and your own local/country rulebook. In the Netherlands we have some exeptions in our rulebook compairing it with ISF/ESF. example: Tie-breaker in Holland is only max. 2 inn. A draw after 9th inn. is a draw! (except at the finals) In ISF/ESF you have a rematch!

Good to hear/read from you guys .
You are right the forum does sharpen the mind as I do tend to apply the rule then double check the rule book . To Dutch Alex Recently at our NZ mens club champs we had several dutch players competing in some of the teams . |

I didn't know dutchies were playing down under during our winter-break.
However I glad ot be on the field next weekend. I've had a knee-operation in jan. and haven't be able to sport since then.
