Don't laugh; that is still the choice of a lot of Youth Rec Leagues that are using teenagers or adult volunteers to call games. They grab the pillow and mask and get behind the cather to make the calls.

They get 10 bucks a game for 6 - 10 games; they are not going to invest in the equipment we wear nor are they going to learn to umpire in the slot. But without them, millions of kids 6 to 15 yrs old are not going to be playing ball each spring.

Don't laugh, I actually wore one of those protectors after
my triple by-pass. I found it cumbersome, but it did the job
for almost two months. My grandkids use it when they are
paint gun fighting.

I see that mentioned allot, even on the LL website, but they pay me 25 bucks a game.
