NOTE: In PLAY 4.4-1, B11 is an unreported EP. The manager did not include the EP in the lineup to begin the game. He came late and the manager thought they could add him in as the EP.

PLAY 4.4-2
Using the same play as 4.4-1, "B11" gets on base with a single and the defense appeals before the next pitch or (b) after the next pitch.

RULING: (a) Once a game starts with 10 players, an EP cannot be added. When the umpire was notified, "B11" is an illegal sustitute for "B1". B11 is removed from 1B and is disqualified. B1 re-enters or a legal sustitute assumes the existing count prior to the hit.

I believe the ruling for part A is wrong. Should B1 come to bat and assume the count prior to B11's hit?

Rule 4-4A and 4-6B doesn't say anything about assuming the count, except in the situation where they were discovered while at bat. That is not the case here. Should we not have B11 removed, disqualified and declared out. If so, then would B1 bat or B2?
