The home team is down by one run in the bottom of the seventh. Bases are loaded with two outs. R1 is on third,R2 is on second, and R3 is on first. B6 hits a fair ball that goes over the fence in flight. R3 fails to touch second base and the defense properly appeals.
HOW MANY RUNS COUNT (IF ANY)? And why? Should you call for a police escort before leaving the field? [Edited by collinb on Feb 24th, 2001 at 10:53 AM] |
R3 on proper appeal would be out on force play no runs could score and possible yes on the police escort.
(deleted other message not to confuse other readers) Thanks Don |
Don is correct.......
No runs would score because R3's failure to touch 2nd is a force. See ASA caseplay 5.5-14 for a similar play. Joel |
