Cool NCAA Florida Pre-season Games

I heard that there are at least three different early season spring classics down in Florida in February. Does anyone have the 2008 contact info and web sites to get the dates and umpire requirements?

If we are going to travel back in time, there are a few other things I would like to do as well.

Well... how 'bout a 2008 update?

Actually, I did a search to see if and when there were posts about this subject. The last one was apparently in 2001... so I suppose I could have made it a "New Post", but.... oh well, I didn't.

So, are there any other games besides the Rebels?

How much do they pay for these tournaments? I saw that the Rebel provides lodging, what about the other one? Anyone worked either of these tournaments?

Cusic tourney

Neither the phone # nor the 2 web addresses listed above for this event seem to be working -- Lee County's website appears to be some dead end tourist web page

Anyone got better info on how to contact these folks?

Considering that this was originally posted close to seven years ago, there is the very distinct possibility that the event no longer exists.

Scott, check my Anyone Know post. You probably do know some or most
of the umpires. Worked 112 team tournament with them last weekend in
Beaumont.

Yessir...I know most of them. As a result of everyone from this area gone, I had to work a 16U tournament using one man mechanics. I also worked 4 games back to back without a break.

The "better" collegiate spring tournaments are "umpire by invitation". IOW, you need to know someone, or they need to know the umpire. In years past, the National/Olympic team have played in one or more of these tournaments.

Usually, a very good level of ball. Once had an umpire tell me after working her first game with Finch and Fernandez throwing, "boy, they threw an awful lot of pitches that sounded like strikes".

I know Phil and Roland were really broken up about that.

Hidie and Debbie are great umpires.

Wonder what they'd think of some of the men's major pitchers I've had.
