I was reading another forum and they were talking about a fight after the game. My understanding is this: While a play was being made at 2nd , a runner coming home ran over the catcher. I assume from what I read the ump made no call at home. After the game while most were shaking hands the catcher started a fight with the girl that ran her over. My question; Does ASA have any rules the cover things that happen after the game is over ? This was 14u fall ball Brian

Not an umpire issue, whether before, during or after. The only thing the umpire is going to do is take numbers and eject those involved.

If the catcher throws the ball back to the pitcher, it does not stop the runner from advancing on to 2nd. As an umpire, I don't have the right to dictate to a coach how to play defense. If the defense wants to throw the ball down to first to tag the runner the moment she steps toward 2nd (as they often do in NFHS play)I can't stop them.
By rule, even awarded bases must be run legally. IF runners create milicious contact, hit the ball over the fence, miss a base, leave a base too soon, enter a dugout, pass another runner......can't they be called out even on awarded bases?
Why is it so tough for a batter to be in the running lane on an awarded first base? Seems like this is where they are supposed to be running anyway. Again, if they don't create interference then there is no penalty. I don't see the catcher playing "dodge ball" just to get an out. If this were the case, it would be happening almost on every bunt around the plate. I see catchers going to first, not trying to hit the batters in the back. (JMO)

I think JJ is still harping on the NFHS Rule about being
able to have interference on a walked batter.

Then again, maybe he read this different from what I did.

I usually wait for both teams to leave the field before I depart.
However, I am not a referee. Coach is responsible for the action
of his/her players.
