ASA Slowpitch Base Stealing

I have a question on the ASA slowpitch base stealing rule. Runner on Third base. I pitch the ball and the ball hits the black part on the backside of home plate and shoots by the catcher. Is the black part around home plate considered part of the plate or is it a live ball? The runner was allowed to steal home because of this.

It is obviously the umpire's judgment as to whether it actually touched the black or not. However, to answer your question, in ASA, the beveled portion of the plate outside the defined dimensions of home base is to be considered as part of the plate for all plays and rules which it concerns.

Awww, come on, can't I bring up the geometry that proves it is impossible for the ball to hit "just black" anyway on a properly maintained plate?
