Rule 4/D/2/A states under no circumstances shall a team be permitted to bat less than eight in fast pitch. Rule 4/8/C states if a player is ejected and the team does not have enough players to continue the game is forfeited. In this situation Team A still has nine players and eight batters. According to the way I interpret the rule this is not a forfeit. NFHS rule 3/6/D/1 states the game may legally end with nine players. This does not state nine batters. Any replies for this one?

If a team is using the DP/FLEX and has no substitutes, they may continue to play with only 8 batters and 9 defensive players only if the player leaving the game is due to injury or a disqualification (rule violation). Under no circumstances can the game be continued shorthanded as a result of an ejection (unsportsmanlike conduct).
Therefore, if the #3 hitter gets hurt stealing 2nd base and she is not the DP or FLEX, the game may continue with the normal 9 defensive players (remember any 9 players of the 10 on the lineup card may play defense) and now the #3 batting spot is vacant meaning we have an out every time that position is up to bat. Hope this helps |
Is there an echo in here? ;)

How was the trip and wedding? Rachel and I had the same schedule all week. So never got to really see her in action but for few innings in different games. However, was told my several that she was a darn good umpire. |
