If you are doing a doubleheader (U-16-Fed rules), and you eject an unruly parent during the first game, are they allowed back for the second game?

Can we eject parents?

If a coach is ejected for the first game, can he/she coach in the second game? What about players?

Sounds like a home-facility management problem to me.

Speaking ASA...had to ask a parent in a 10U tournament to leave because of language (BS) usage. Low and behold his childs team won that game and made it to next game, championship game...WE allowed him to enter the park again, with the stipulation that he would be watched carefully and asked to leave again if we even thought something was going to go wrong.

May not have been the best way to deal with it, but both sides were happy.

Was the parent a coach? Or with these youngsters today, was the parent a 16-U player?

If not, unless you have some local league rules, then you have what we in project management call (that's my day job) "perceived authority". That's when people obey you because they think you have the right to tell them what to do. In that case, just rattle off a rule number and say, "According to Rule 102, Subsection 13r, a parent that is ejected must leave the bleacher area for the remainder of the day."

I had a similiar situation several years ago in HS ball. Home team from a AAA school in Atlanta suburbs, visitors had traveled from Columbus, Ga about 90 minutes away.
According to Ga HS rules, an administrator must be with each team, not just coaches.
Well the parent (Army Colonel from Ft. Benning) I had trouble with was the vistor's main pitcher. She had a VERY hard time hitting the strike zone. Well, he wanted me to call her "chin music" pitches-strikes. Yeah, right. Since I didn't, he started raising He-- in the stands. Then, he went behind the backstop and criticized every call on his daughter and the Home team pitcher. After 4 innings of this, I'd had enough. Went to the head coach of the visitors, and asked to see their administrator. They didn't have one! So, I asked if any of them were teachers at the school, yes all coaches. I told the Head coach, "You are now the administator, and you are to tell the pitcher's father to either shut up, or he may leave the area." Ok, he tried and colonel refused. I told the coach either he goes or YOU go. Finally colonel backed off about 50 feet and shut up. Coach removed his daughter as pitcher, and lo and behold, the other 2 pitchers were like SP! ARGGGH! Long game folks, home winning by a tremendous lead in 5th. Walked through home dugout, grabbed bag and BU and headed for parking lot----here comes the colonel. Screaming and shouting about his DD was good, had excellent pitching coach, etc. and demanded I stop and talk to him.
I did "Sir, the game is over. I'm not in the Army and if you don't leave me alone, I will call the police for terriostic
threats!" He FINALLY shut up.
So, beware when trying to eject parents, but if it comes down to it, proceed with caution. If 2 games, talk to coach and parents BEFORE 2nd game and lay out the rules!

An Army colonel pitching HS softball? I knew they promoted early, but that's even too early for the Air Force. Or does GA allow 40-year-olds to play high school sports?

If I put all your facts together right, this was Spencer HS? I know the Col, That wasn't the first time he was asked to vacate! My DD played TB with his DD. Nice guy, but very vocal during the games (of course I never was!).

No JEL, it was Brookstone HS out of Columbus against Marist HS in Chamblee and was a varisty game in 2000. This guy was no where remotely nice, but a big blow-hard.

Was a 'nother colonel then I suppose. Don't want to stereotype, but some of the Brookstone crowd can be rather, well, vocal at times! I did call Brookstone BB in first round state playoff this year. They handled the visiting team (Jenkins county) well, so there was not a lot of griping from anyone. They were two good ball games anyway. It does seem that the "nuts" fall out more for the playoffs than regular season though.

Just did the GHSA softball clinic this past weekend, and one point brought out is the home team must provide Umpire escort/security at all games. This supposedly has been in force for a while, but I've never been escorted, or felt the need for it. We are now to report if escort is not provided. The required administrator now has the title of "game manager" all crowd control/security and such will be his/her responsibility.

Game protests are no longer allowed. This is due to the football game last season wher a protest was upheld, and the 4th qtr was replayed. Not sure whether I like that one or not, but we'll see.

I was there, please email me from profile as at one station we were taught something that contradicted what I have been taught over and over for the past 20 years, when I questioned it I was told "this is NFHS not ASA", but it also contradicted what was taught in last years GHSA Advanced School, I think it was baseball creeping into softball.

Well, there is another topic that says ASA rules were used for a HS game in GA.

Don't really catch what you are saying, but this clinic (as all the GHSA clinic's have been) was listed as "GHSA-ASA" It's even printed on the shirts that way. GISA (independant schools) play by straight ASA rules. Some private schools (as Brookstone above) play under GHSA. Umpiring mechanics are the same, although there are a few rules variations.

Cecil, as far as I know, most of the high schools in Georgia play NFHS. All the ones around Metro Atlanta do, even some of the private schools.
Jel, I KNOW who Bagman is, he's one of my favorite partners and he knows it! LOL We used to 'run' some games and we NEVER fudge on the rules!
