Around here there is a push to get the on deck players behind the batters. I know that in the ASA and NFHS codes the on deck players are to be on their dugout side. Does any one know of a national code (NSA, USSSA, ISA etc.) that suggests/requires the on deck players to be behind the batter?

Thanx

I dont know of any codes that require it, there may be some but I would doubt it. It doesn't matter much to me if there is. Up to 14U, I place them behind the batter, above that I give the coaches the option. Most coaches move on deck's behind for safety reasons. I would also. I have seen some nasty shots.

AFA. They claim it is safety thing.

Dixie also makes the same claim that AFA does, that it is safer and therefore they mandate that the on deck player be in the circle behind the batter.
