Two "one second pause" relate questions from the weekend:

1) Is it legal to pause twice before starting the pitch?

She takes the signal with her hands in front of her belly.

Then, she raises her hands (together) over her head and pauses for one or two seconds.

Then, she lowers her hands (still together) back in front of her belly and pauses again for one or two seconds.

The rest of her procedure is 'normal'.

I let her continue, because I didn't consider it a stop of her forward motion, just some kind of different starting position. This is a 13 or 14 year old, so she must have been doing this for a while now.

Was I wrong ??

2) I don't see anything in my rule book that actually states the pitcher's hands have to be front-and-center during the one second pause. Can anyone point to a rules that states that ?

Speaking ASA, this was legal so long as it all took less than 10 sec. The pitch does not start until she separates her hands.

There is no rule that says "front and center" for hand position when together.
