that's the key hey was a credentialed member of the press... got in free, free food in the pressbox, etc. FREE so therefore I just want to get his press credentials yanked for the state baseball tournament... if he and his paper want him to cover it fine I have no problem with that but he should have to buy a ticket to get in just like any other fan because that is what he became with that article a fan, not an unbiased observer of the events

I disagree. It would not be an ethical violation for his role as a reporter, but witing an article like this would be an ethical violation for a registered umpire. The penalty would be revocation of his umpiring credentials. He can still write and get printed anything his newspaper will print. He just can't umpire HS games anymore.

I agree with Tom here. What he wrote as a reporter was perfectly justified and correct for a reporter. What he said as an umpire was totally incorrect and unjustified, so if you want to get something revoked go after his umpiring credentials, not his reporting credentials.

Section 5 Standards of Conduct
e. Affecting adversely the confidence of the public, schools, and universities in integrity of the TASO
Section 6 Each member of the TASO is obligated to the following Code of Ethics
f. No official shall criticize any other official or any indicidual association within TASO in the presence of coaches, players, spectators, or the news media before, during or after a game/match...
so the way that I read this, he has violated both of these
