CC,

I can't find it referenced in the rule book, but I do remember it being printed on the official ASA roster form as Dec 31. That was a few years ago though, don't think it has changed.

You really need to tell us what you are talking about.

Does this involve umpiring, playing or what?

Lets say a league wishes to use strict ASA age determination dates for all their age brackets. A girl who turned 13 on Jan 1 may not be able to play U12 if that "ADD"
from the ASA Guidelines are January 1, and any coach who would use her is subject to a protest from the other coach.
This is happening right now in a league near me. I could not find by looking thru ASA website or rule book, if there is one ?, and I also wanted to know how it was worded.

I gave you the link, chuck. The information you are looking for is in the ASA Code, which is available online as a PDF document.

Again, here is the link. I'll leave the searching of the code to you.

Whatever age you are on Dec 31st is your ASA age for the following year. If a girl turned 13 on Jan 1st she can still play 12U . Brian

Junior Olympic Age Qualifications. A playerÂ’s age as of December 31 determines the age in which the player is eligible to play the following year.

01. 10-Under Age Classification. A player born after December 31, 1992 is ELIGIBLE.

02. 12-Under Age Classification. A player born after December 31, 1990 is ELIGIBLE.

03. 14-Under Age Classification. A player born after December 31, 1988 is ELIGIBLE.

04. 16-Under Age Classification. A player born after December 31, 1986 is ELIGIBLE.

05. 18-Under Age Classification. A player born December 31, 1984 is ELIGIBLE ( Includes Junior Olympic GOLD ).

06. Players of younger age classification may play in older age classifications, but an older age classification player may not play in the younger age classification.

Of course, none of this has anything to doing with the umpire, thank God.

Being redundant:

A player born ON December 31, 1992 is 11 this year (eleventh birthday was 12/31/2003).

A player born after December 31, 1992, (e.g., 1/1/93 or 12/31/93) is 10 or younger this year.
