I have seen a couple of girls wearing soft "jelly-like" ropes. One girl had one on as a bracelet, the other was a necklace. I didn't mention anything about them but it did make me wonder, what does everyone else think? They were soft and would not cause any harm IMO if compressed into the body, the only concern I had was one getting hooked and pulled on a tag or slide. What say ya'll??

My belief would be that if they could get hooked on something and thus cause an injury, they should be disallowed.

Those are junk break-away jewelry that I don't believe would cause any injury. Dirt in the eye would do more harm

If NFHS, they are illegal. NFHS 3-2-12: Players in the game are prohibited from wearing jewelry such as rings, watches, earrings, bracelets, necklaces (including cloth or string types). |
Chuck, that is how I judged it, there was not metal connector or any other type of object and I think it would actually tear prior to causeing any injury. I was just wondering how others would view them.

When in doubt, lean toward safety. There was no reason those girls HAD to wear those on the field.

Always enforce safety rules.

It will be the umpire that is found to be at fault when this happens. Don't allow them. |

Speaking ASA for my own interpretation/policy on what constitutes dangerous jewelry... No jewelry period. (other than the hair ties) Bracelets rings earings noserings necklaces.. anything like that must be off - and I do watch that fairly closely. I dont trouble myself with examing each piece to determine safety. Its a ball game not a fashion show.

the difference is that in adult ball, it is umpire judgement. All JO is sans jewelry. |
ASA 3-6-F ... "judged by the umpire to be dangerous" ....
