I apologize if this question has been already asked earlier this Spring. If so, I can't find it here. And I also apologize for posting threads regarding the ASA exam, which I don't like to do. But here in CT, we have not even received our test results back yet, and my ASA SP leagues begin play next week.
Question # 60. The pitcher attempts a quick return pitch before the batter is ready. No pitch should be declared by the umpire? I'm an ASA Men's SP Rec League Umpire. I referred to Rule 6 - Pitching Regulations (Slow Pitch), Section 7, Effect A (Page 92), which results in an ILLEGAL PITCH. I answered the question False, since the umpire should declare an ILLEGAL PITCH, not a NO PITCH. The answer sheet to the ASA test reads that the correct answer to question #60 is True, and cites Rule 6 - Pitching Regulations (Fast Pitch), Section 10.B (page 86), which states that a NO PITCH should be declared. Question #60 was not one of the 15 questions (#'s 11, 22, 26, etc.) that had unique FP and SP pairs of questions. But based on my explanation above, either this question should not have been used as worded, or it should have been asked in both FP and SP formats. Did anybody else notice this? Thanks. |
I posed the question earlier. Mike noted that the question should have specified FP only.

Thanks. I did not even try to read the thread when it was originally posted, as I try to steer clear of test-related posts, so as not to affect my own answers. Sorry to clog up the board!

Don't apologize. Most posts deal with matters that were discussed at some earlier point.

Being solely a FP umpire, I never even noticed this disparity.

The search function has been disabled!!! A manual search is tedious, to say the least, in a board this active. |

From what I gather, a few months ago, The Official Forum had out-grown the software. Brad is working toward a solution. mick |
Brad must have fixed it, worked for me...

I just tried it at home (other times at work). I only get "Sorry. The search function has been disabled by the administrator."
Have you hacked the system, Glen? ;) |
