Until next year, almost. Got a a few league night game left to do in the next couple of weeks and 2003 season will be in the books. Did over 300 SP games this year and over 100 FP games and I am tired, not physically I held up pretty well but mentally I am worn out in the last couple of weeks in which I have worked every day I have made some really bad judgement calls which I believe is because I have just become brain dead from calling so much. BUT over all a pretty good year.

1st year calling High School and got 1 playoff game doing a Private school 4a went 14 inning in a 6-5 game

2nd year working FP ASA league and tournaments. Did 5 local tournaments worked winner's final or championship in 4 of the 5 tournaments

5th year SP mostly ASA worked a couple local tournaments had plate on one for championship and worked SPA 60+ Major + & Major division National Championships

Will do a little basketball officiating in the off season to try to stay in shape and another season will begin by Jan

Hope everybody HOLIDAYS are great

Don,
Here in East Texs we still have loads of tournaments.
I have four in Nov., two in Dec., two in Jan., and 1
in February before NFHS starts. Every now and then
three or four teams get together and have one day
round robins also in this are. So still plenty of
ball to do. I know Mike is not a big fan of this, but
it just the way things are around here.

Happy Holidays and good luck with the Basketball.

Boo!! Hissssss!!

Seasonal sport! Actually, I believe, as Don noted, an umpire becomes mentally drained. Like it or not, that will eventually cause a physical drain. Unless, that is, you are one of the folks who works their games from a 10' circle around the plate.

And I would like to think everyone has other things to do in their life than officiate sports. Variety IS the spice of life.

But, to each their own. Have fun with whatever it is y'all do.

Gotta admit - while I'd like to have a longer season, I do need the off-season. I need the downtime physically and mentally and the off-season is when I have the time to do most of my rules studying.
