interference video
The Washington Nationals recently complained for interference when a throw from home hit the BR outside the running lane. There has always been a difference between being hit by the ball and interfering with a fielder. The video below shows the BR very close to 1st and contacting the fielder. With a single base, the BR has to veer to the base, but was not in the running lane at all. What do you say, INT or not, if it were USA Softball?

My opinion is no interference. In my opinion, based on the video, the runner has actually reached first base and is in the process of running threw the base when the throw hits the runner. Can't be a running lane violation if you have, or are touching first base which is what I see on this play (stopped the video as the runners foot touches and can clearly see the throw still behind the runner.

U1 starts to punch out BR then stops because the ball is loose.
