Ref mag query

Anybody see this question? I don't agree with their answer. What answer do you have?https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...1fe6fe9d4d.jpg

As soon as Baker takes a pitch, Charles' at-bat is legalized. The person listed after Charles (Daniel) is the next batter.

If Baker had looked at the 1st pitch, OC could have then safely replaced her with Daniel, who would've taken over the count.

If Baker doubled on the 1st pitch, the offense was left vulnerable to a BOO appeal.

Answer is D

Just curious, what does the test have as the answer?

Sort of curious how they didn't catch Charles' BOO.

But I agree, Daniel is the correct batter after Charles and should be ruled out for failing to bat and Baker's AB negated. Edwards is now the proper batter.

D

Ok. Now I've got it. Well, sorta anyway. Very screwy situation.

Answer the magazine has is D which I incorrectly thought should have been B

You are correct in that Baker is batting in the proper slot (2) in the order.
As previously explained, once a pitch was thrown to Baker, The PREVIOUS batter became the proper batter (Charles). This essentially resets the batting order and the batter that follows Charles should be at bat (Daniel). Since Baker batted in this spot, s/he is out of order and subject to appeal.

The correct answer is to forfeit the game. It is not legal to start a game with only six players in the line up. Is that what the magazine had?:D:confused::D
