Chest protector for Texas heat

I've got the high school covered, but need something as cool as possible for when working with the 14 and under crowd. Ventilation is a must as the Texas sun is brutal.

Is the difference spring vs. summer?
You probably don't think mine is cool or ventilated, but it is fine for me here. It does not lay tightly so some air moves.
Champion P 235.

In spring I run one that gives a lot of protection. Just would like to find one I've seen others wear which has shoulder pads and a sternum protection. Had one many years ago that was very light and was vented all over covered by mesh that you could unzip and wash.

If yours is fully vented that would be fine. I wear a honigs that I wear kind of loose to get some air between it and my shirt. Just not vented very well. I use cooling towels around my neck as well. They work wonders.

Found out it is the Honig K2. Unfortunately they are not in stock. :(

I've been using one for years (before they went to the mesh back... mine has straps).

I like it (we do get hot here, not quite as hot as central TX where I used to live and doesn't last from March to November here, either!)

Don't expect it to provide much protection for the rib cage and none for the belly.
