Start with 8?
 
Are you allowed to start the game with 8 players? And then just take the out for the 9th in the batting lineup when it comes to that at bat? Already down to 9 girls and have 1 taking off during break.

NFHS - no
USA (was ASA) - yes
USSSA - yes
