Response to coach
 

Hypothetical situation:

BU makes a call on the bases, coach comes out to discuss.
BU consults with PU then issues a ruling.

Coach then asks PU..."What did you say to him/her?"

How would you respond to coach?

With a shocked expression? :eek:

Coach, that discussion was between my partner and I. If you wish to discuss the play speak to my partner who made the ruling.

Had a somewhat similar situation where a coach came out to discuss an unrostered player on other team. Told him he would have to take that up with the tournament director as there was nothing I could do. Then other coach came over and wanted to know what we had been discussing. Sorry coach, will not divulge what I spoke with other coach about just as I will not divulge what you and I talk about to him.

Nothing... why is Coach talking to me? At most, I point to BU.

I don't. If pushed, a simple, "coach, wasn't my call, I cannot talk to you about the play", turn an move into position.

Coach, that is between my partner and I. If you would like an explanation of the call please see my partner, otherwise we are going to play ball.

Coach, that discussion was between my partner and myself. It is not up for discussion. Let's play ball.
