Not a great story for these umpires...

Area umpires told they won’t be paid for work | fox4kc.com

What expenses?

What expenses would the assignor/association have?
Phone, Internet...what else? I am sure I am missing a few things....But, they weren't told they are only getting half...they are told they are getting nothing. How is ALL of the money gone?

I guess it is possible this was not embezzlement.
However, I cannot imagine what else it could have been.

Guy needs to be seeing the inside of a jail cell until he figures out how to pay all the money he owes his officials that worked for him.

I personally know the guy in question here. I really hope that it's nothing criminal and I cannot believe he would do this to his officials. Very ugly indeed. I don't work for him anymore bc I don't do any sanctioned ASA but he runs a CRAP TON of softball in KC, both Missouri and Kansas sides. I can't believe he has let it come to this.

He'll declare bankruptcy and walk away. Umpires are just creditors in the eyes of the law -- nothing more, nothing less.

This group has more organization than most. Uses one of the pay sites, etc. and I'm not saying blues will get any money due them but it appears there are bad bad things going on here. Possibly legal issues.

Umpires need to file a complaint and bring charges against whomever contracted them for the work.

Agreed.

Maybe it was not criminal...If not, does anyone have any idea what it was?

He did not claim that he was not paid by the tournament organizations.

What possible legitimate expenses would have meant that the umpires get zero?

I do that kind of coordination in my area, and I can't think of any non-criminal justification. Creditor; yes. But if he used money owed as game fees to others for his personal expenses, that is theft by conversion, theft of services, something criminal.

Very sloppy and lazy "reporting". The talking head didn't probe this guy at all. You would not need Mike Wallace to get to the bottom of this. 1) did you get the money? 2) if yes: what did you do with it? If no: who was supposed to pay you ?
