I'm confused with soccer and football, they are different?

I will make a guess that you grew up somewhere other than the USA.

Most of the posters on this website are USA based. In the USA "Football" is "American Football" the game that allows the use of the hands to throw, catch and carry a ball that is not round. Players use Helmets & Padding. There are 5 or 6 referees and active play stops ever 20/30 seconds.

Soccer = Football = Futbol. The beautiful game game that uses 22 players, 3 referees, a round ball and as few stoppages of play as possible.

Actually Football plays has anywhere from 4-7 "officials" and all D1 and Pro Ball (outside football) has 7 officials. There is always only one Referee. :D

And the average play is around 6 seconds. Clock can continue to run majority of the time and stops for certain types of plays.

Peace

Thanks for the corrections JRut. I am not a "Football" fan so I am amazed that the average play "averages" only around 6 seconds. I guess that allows fans maximum time the snack and drink without missing anything.
