Socring Directly From Kickoff

Can a goal be scored directly from a kickoff without a second touch in any rule set of soccer?

Yes, for both NFHS play and in USSF/FIFA games.

Law 8 in the USSF Laws of the Game and NFHS rule 8-1-3 both contain the same sentence: "A goal may be scored directly from the kick-off."

Yep, and when I was coaching Jr. High I had a player score a goal that way once!

NCAA also permits a goal from the kickoff. I once saw a game where the GK ran way down the field to celebrate a goal with his team then while he was going back to the goal, the ref signalled the restart since the team that had been scored on was ready and waiting. The kick from that kickoff beat the GK to the goal.

Should the ref have waited longer?

PS The GK didn't run down the field anymore that year.
