I'd like as many replies to these questions as possible:

1) Should an active official serve as assignor for games in which he officiates?

2) Should a coach be allowed to hold office in an officials association?

1. no 2. yes (if active, and by vote of membership)

1. yes if approved by members, and assignments are reviewed periodically by association board.
2. yes if approved by members

1) If the assignor has morals and doesn't always assign him or herself all the "big ones" than there is no problem. I'm sure that person can officate and it would be shame not to allow them to do it.

2) Absolutely, why not?

I am the local Assignor for all Rec, Classic, Tournament and HS games. I dont always work the "Big" games. Well I do all the HS Games due to lack of officials ( but not all the CTRs ). It is not fair for the Assignor to pick and choose when you have other officials to do the games and can do them as well as you can. Yes I could do all the Big ones but it would be detrimental to what USSF and the locals want to achieve. As an Assignor I usually do most of the U8 games. They are fun and a nice break from the HS Boys Varsity games and Amatuer games I do. Those little guys can run forever. And they have fun and that is where soccer starts. They deserve the best just the same as the HS Varsity does. Hope this answered your question
