I saw this situation in a FED game yesterday. Bases loaded with one out. A line drive is hit to F4 who catches and drops the ball in what looks like it could be on the transfer. Both umpires...

Helping Out a Young Partner

I was working with a very young partner this past week in a FED high school game. I always try to do my best to mentor without making myself sound superior. There was a situation in the game where...

Splitting the Difference

I witnessed this play and then talked to one of the coaches after the game. FED game with R2 & R3 and one out. B1 misses on a squeeze attempt and R3 is in a rundown between third and home while R2...

Smartest Coach in the World

I had a game today where a coach employed maybe the smartest play I had ever seen. R1 & R3 with two outs. Instead of stealing second base, R1 takes off for short right field and stops a few feet in...

Not new

He is not new. He has been around for a few years. He doesn't seem to have improved much. I would say that he is my partner for more than 75% of my games. We work together a lot.

Should We Get Paid?

In our area we play the varsity game first followed by the JV game. Before the start of the varsity game, we make it a habit of asking what the coaches have planned for the JV game. Some teams play...

Would you take the field with a partner who is working the plate? His pants are obviously not plate pants. They are so tight around the legs that they barely fit over his shin guards. Because of...
