To me, in all but NCAA, it is absolutely clear that the correct ruling in your case play is an out; it is a fair batted ball, and the batter-runner initiated the contact.

In NCAA, I think 11.21.7...

Wouldn't it be fair to consider that, once the batter has advanced, even partially, out of the batter's box, that "contacts a fair batted ball" is the more appropriate rule to cite than "batted ball...
