This happened a few times
last season. Every time I asked why but only one catcher had an appropriate response:
"I need to talk to the pitcher".

Red Sox v Oakland 7/27
Anyone see the throat guard HPU was wearing in this game?
Check the highlight reel at about 30 seconds, here: Baseball Video Highlights & Clips | 07.27.09: Red Sox slam the A's - Video | MLB.com:...

Today, State Sectional in Bilgeport, Majors.
Started weird. Assignor tells me that as U2, I have to wear a 'walkie talkie' type radio to relay substitutions in to the press box where the TD is...

Obr
F1/F5 (any fielder) must field, after play ceases, call time and remove the batter for safety's sake.
I dunno about FED.

Yes the BU should have stayed with the PU. You never leave your partner.
PU should have left with gear on if things were out of control: HTBT.
Yes I would have tried to help if I saw things...

Time is out
PU has his hand up: time is out.
I'd warn the pitcher or maybe send him to the bench if he's been previously warned.
I'm not always watching F1 when my hand is up. This could be dangerous.

ball location
Ball: most of the time (for inside or outside), I'll look in the direction the pitch was after F2 catches it. That's the only indicator I'll give unless the batter asks directly.
