Mainly NFHS rules but has criteria changed for batter avoiding the pitch? I know college has changed but didn’t see anything in FED. Batter ducks to avoid high curve ball and pitch hits in helmet...

I agree with that - good call. Announcers are idiots - if they would watch Davidson's mouth he says "out, he's out of the baseline" - mechanics not good but we've all done stuff like that before...

I agree totally. Most of the time the pitcher uses the "hanging leg" to freeze the runner and continues to the plate.

But in the play, he went to the base - that would be a balk in my games.

Not necessarily - when giving an explaination give the rule. But of course then you have to 'know' the rules. By giving the rule, you clairify why you called the balk.
