I have heard the phrase from both coaches and...
I have heard the phrase from both coaches and officials, "the hand is part of the ball".
1) Is this true?
2) Is there a reference in the rules and where?

Larks... You made my point in reverse. I'm finding some rec leagues with ex pros and NCAA players that care more about the quality of their officials than some of the higher formal levels of play......

Compensattion
Come on now... you can work with a pay range. In Houston I find a great desparity in compensation. It seems the higher the level of competition, the lower the compensation.

Two refs needed in North Houston TX
Need two refs for 4 on 4 (over 40) short court league in North Houston close to (1960 @ Kuykendahl). Games at 7,8 and 9pm Weds. nights. Each ref receives $25 per game,$75 for the night plus summer...
