It's sometimes nice to see a MLB umpire struggle...

It's sometimes nice to see a MLB umpire struggle with the zone. Makes me feel a little better when I have a tough little league game.

Interesting. Because, the batter would be moving into the pitch (since he's moving out of the box). And, isn't the penalty for moving into a pitch a strike, also?

Right. There's no way the umpire got this call right. It was either a dead ball, strike or not. Or it was a foul ball.

I'm confused. Did the umpire get this wrong? If the pitch hit his hand, it should have been a dead ball. If the pitch hit the bat and then his hand, it should be a foul ball. Am I missing...

Yeah that is the logic I follow. But, as devil's advocate, I could argue with myself that since the third strike was not caught, and the ball is immediately dead, the batter should be awarded first...
