I was looking up the NCAA rules, and they have some interesting language on this possibility, if they inadvertently go in the wrong direction. Apparently any scoring that happened in the wrong...

Yeah - I know. However - I've been going over one particular rulebook and the term used is almost always "try".

So technically - the "goal" counted.....

NCAA: out of bounds or TD when ball hits the pylon?

This isn't a theoretical. During the UCLA at Cal game yesterday, Cal's Shane Vereen dove for the pylon. The ball appeared to be over the sideline (before the goal line) before he brought in back in...

There is an incentive - to possibly avoid getting tackled and/or being at risk for coughing up the ball. A player could conceivably run full sprint not properly securing the ball, but prepared to...

I paid more attention to the one game I was most interested in today. I noticed that the under 16-minute media timeout was taken in the first half. Then around 13:37, Louisville is absolutely...

I don't think there are. It looks like the standard under 16-, 12-, 8-, 4- minute media timeouts. BTW - I personally have never seen the under 15-, 10-, 5- minute media timeouts. Anyone here ever...

I understand that the definition of traveling for a player on the ground simplifies to either rolling over or getting up, rather than the ref trying to establish where the pivot foot is or whether or...

Well - it occurs to me that if a team shoots the ball and misses it so badly that it wedges on the side of the rim, it might be considered an "infraction" with possession awarded to the defensive...

NCAA rules - basket in and out

Looked in the case book and rulebook - can't seem to find anything definitive and thought I would ask here.

Pretty simple. Ball goes into the hoop and completely past the ring without...

"Dropping" may not have been the best description. Some of the players were doing all the motions of a dunk and forcing the ball through. The one detail is that they were clearly avoiding hand...

Pregame dunking - is it being well enforced?

I know it's illegal under NCAA and NFHS rules, and I have seen it called before. I noticed the case of St Mary's getting called for it last season against Gonzaga. Still - I've seen it go uncalled...
