Manitoba lacrosse league bans parents

By Meghan Hurley [Winnipeg Free Press] in the article http://www.canada.com/topics/news/st...5-b4205ac4736a

Quote:
WINNIPEG - Lacrosse officials in Manitoba are protecting their referees from abuse by banning all spectators during the Red River Lacrosse Association playoffs until further notice.

Even parents who drive their children to the games are prohibited from entering the arenas during games within the league, which has teams with players ranging from six to 21 years.

Set up a camera, post it on YouTube and we'll all be happy.

Huh??? You've made several posts in recent times that don't seem to contribute anything, either officiating-wise, funny-wise, or social-wise.

What is your reason for posting this nonsense? Do you mean that parents can watch the games on YouTube?

I quess I can feel lucky I officiate in an area very young in its exposer to lacrosse. We actually hold a "mini-camp" for questions from parents at half time on all JV and lower games and the parents comment is that They learned more in the 5-7 minutes they spend with us than they do trying to follow and figure out the game. They are so appreciative and thank us. I feel real lucky as a rookie official to know more than a good share of the parents, I'm sure the time is comming though when they will become as educated, boistious and even annoying as parents in basketball.
