Attackman A22 is in the offensive half of the field (not in the box)and 10-second count is on. B17 rides A22 preventing the attack from stepping into Zone 4. The trail official is counting 8......9....when B44 heads into scrimmage area to aid B17. Trail has a 10-count (failure to advance the ball) just as - in continuing action - B44 holds, pushes, or otherwise fouls A22.

Which call takes precedence? Does the 10-second count expiration overrule the foul by B44? Does it depend whether B44's foul was a personal foul or a technical foul?

Biz...if B's foul on A occurs just before the 10-sec. count expires on A, it is flag down..then whistled dead when A
"fails to advance" (see NCAA p. 78-79 (7-8-i). Now let's say you blow the whistle for A's failure to advance and a split second later B comes flying into A. If it's a technical foul..A gets ball back. If it's a personal foul, A gets ball and B serves time.
