Icing the puck
I've read the NHL rule, but still can't grasp the "Icing" call.
It seems like there are times (other than short-handed) where it's waved off and I can't figure out why. Can someone put it in layman's terms for me please? Thanks. |
Take a look at NHL Rule 81.5. There are about 7 ways to nullify icing. Probably the most common I see:
- An onside teammate wins the "race to the puck" - An opposing player was able to play the puck and chose not to. - The goalkeeper touches the puck |
