Line Brawls becoming the norm

First it was the Canucks-Flames having a line brawl the other night, & now it's Ferris State-Minnesota State having a line brawl.

Why are line brawls becoming more commonplace?

Here's the box score from the Ferris State-Minnesota Stater game where the line brawl took place:

Ferris State vs. Minnesota State Boxscore 1/18/2014

Are they? Seems like you're working with a pretty small sample size.

I'm used to only hearing of 1 a year-every other year.

USA-Canada Women's hockey, Calgary-Vancouver, & Ferris State-Minnesota State all within the past 3-4 months.

They're more uncommon the higher the level.

NHL...practically non existant.

Friday night Junior C in the styx.....a bit more common.

Overall, however, the amount of brawling in hockey is WAY down from where it was in the 70s and 80s. Coverage is the difference. Would anybody have ever heard about a US College line brawl 10 years ago???

With everyone/everything being online nowadays, it is more prevalent compared in the past.

The reporting is more prevalent, not the brawling.
