What are people hearing at their clinics about the new rules, especially the goaltender smothering the puck rule?

There are several reasons why this is being 'enforced'.

The rules state that the puck 'must be' kept in motion.

To deliberately 'freeze' (delay of game) the puck when the official, using game management, feels that 'play can continue' without removing an advantage or imposing disadvantage and to 'continue' the fair play initiative.

The official (using common sense) will administer a ONE TIME, fair, courtesy warning to the goaltender, Captain, Alternate Capt. and/or even the Coach of his choosing.

(note: to each team when the situation arises)

This still does not mean the goalie is fair play, by all means.

It also reduces the stoppages. More play time...kids.

Here's what I've been told:

a) Goalie covers it outside the crease - delay of game. No warning whatsoever.

b) Goalie covers it unnecessarily in the crease - one warning, next offence is a delay of game.

You can also visit the CHA site and read the NEW (and present) rules or order your own CAse and Rule book.

Hey thats also a great tip for me.

Yet I kinda like things 'in writing' and as long as they are then I dont have to assume...

So, where and when is 'our' (Officials) game going to stop and the "REAL" game start? IT CAN NEVER HAPPEN.

'They' write the rules book and 98% is enforced.

Imagine:
- getting a penalty for slashing the stick 6" above the heel.
- a slight cross check in front of the goal.
- a slap on the pants.
- a slight slash on the shin pads.

YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN.

Who tf is going to call that?

Then THEY (and the game) have made the game the way it is.

Oh well... :) Game on...
