What is the correct pre-game position (following the coin toss until the kick-off) for members of a six-man crew?

TXMike Tue Sep 02, 2003 10:58am

Not sure if it is "correct" or not but we meet in the Center of field, break, and then go to our respective kikcoff positions by going to our respective sidelines and then clearing them as we move up or down to our kickoff position.

CCA mechanics.

We put the U with the kicker, S on kicker's restraining line, F on receiver's restraining line, H and L around the 20 yard line, and R on the goal line in the middle of the field.

Same but unless we've seen something that says the Kicker is REALLY bad, we start the H and L on the phylon and adjust from there during the game. If we have a strong wind, we'll move them up or back accordingly. Following the Kick, they adjust according the side of the field the kick is to. Back side official moves ahead of the ball and officiates the wedge while the ball side official covers around the ball and gets progress. R watches immediately in front of the ball. R also rules on GL.

When you meet at mid-field after the coin toss--
besides the usual "rah-rah", "have fun", "keep everything
in front of you" stuff---
does your R tell a good quick joke or point out a fine looking
lady 10 rows back on the home team 50 yard line ??
Hey-- I had to ask !!
Have a great season guys !!

That's actually not a bad idea. Guys tend to get pretty wired and its good to break the ice a bit.

What I think that I'll leave them with this year-before we leave the huddle is this thought: "Let's talk them out of five."

If we can prevent five fouls via communication and preventitive officiating we might not have to drop a flag. What a great thing that would be.

Most of my guys can spot good looking gals on their own- they sure hustle to retrieve the ball when it ends up in the vicinity of an attractive lady.
