Worst NFL Review Decision Ever?
Controversial RG3 TD overturned, leading to Redskins meltdown - CBSSports.com
Not that it excuses Moss's behavior, but that appears to be absolutely brutal. Is this the result of another nonsensical rule, or is it as bad as it looks? Last edited by hbk314; Sun Dec 14, 2014 at 04:45pm. |

Worst review decision ever?
![]() Try the correct call. It's an easy review decision when one knows the rules involved in the play The player loses possession of the ball prior to the ball breaking the plane of the goal line....to regain possession of the ball again, he must complete the process of recovering a loose ball....control of the ball, 2 feet on the ground or any other body part other than the hand(s) or a foot...and because he's going to the ground, he must complete the process by maintaining possession of the ball through contact with the ground. The player regains control of the ball but does not maintain possession of the ball through contact with the ground. In fact, the player didn't even get any body part inbounds have he regained control of the ball. As such you can't award a touchdown in this case....but rather a touchback. You'll see the requirements are the same as those for a catch...that's cause the rule is the same for the recovering any loose ball.

I'd say this post exemplifies how much you clearly don't know about the rules of football.

Well this is one of those plays where the "common sense" view of it is that he had possession in the endzone, so it's not hard to imagine most people would see it that way.

Absolutely the correct call.
Runner loses possession of the ball at approximately the 2 yard line, and doesn't survive the ground with control of the ball (as explained by APG). Quote:
Ball-buster of a play for the covering official, but that's why replay's there. "most people" might not see it that way, but "most people" have no clue what the rules are. |

Still, with the topic titled as it is, the wording in your original post, and your lack of understanding the rules at play on this type of play, it would have probably served you better to just ask about the rules at play that resulted in a reversal of the play instead of what you posted in the OP.
